A Santa Barbara County preschool which had been facing closure due to finances is apparently getting a second chance, thanks to the community.
The Zaca Preschool Program in Buellton was facing closure after funding changes made it impossible for the Santa Barbara County Education Office to continue to support it.
Education Office officials asked some of those involved with the program to see if they could come up with alternative funding. A non-profit agency was created, and fundraising efforts are underway to try to keep the program in operation with its staff intact. The County Schools office is guaranteeing support to help the two decade old program through the transition period.
